A flashcard game to learn to read music: a note appears on the staff and you play it on your MIDI piano or on the on-screen keyboard. Treble and bass clef, three levels, with or without the clock. Free, in the browser.
Each card shows one note on the staff. Play it on your MIDI keyboard or on the keyboard on screen and the next card comes up. Choose treble, bass or both clefs, how many cards per round and whether the clock runs. The quick setup picks a sensible set for beginner, intermediate and advanced readers, plus Master, the hardest of all, with everything locked at the top. Your best round, with its longest streak, is saved in this browser.
A browser with Web MIDI, such as Chrome, Edge or Opera, and a MIDI keyboard over USB or Bluetooth. Or just the on-screen keyboard with your mouse or touch screen. Nothing to install and no account.
Yes. The beginner quick setup starts with five notes in each clef, from C to G (from middle C up in the treble clef, an octave lower in the bass clef), without the clock, and you move up when you are ready.
Yes. You can answer on the on-screen keyboard with the mouse or a touch screen, and the letter keys of your computer work too. A MIDI keyboard makes it closer to real reading practice.
Beginner uses C to G in each clef, from middle C up in the treble clef and the octave below in the bass clef, with no sharps or flats. Intermediate covers the whole staff plus two ledger lines above and below, and Advanced three, with a sharp or a flat on about one card in three. You can read the treble clef, the bass clef or both.
